A Story Worth Telling

1968

Foundation

Established Japan Drilling Co., Ltd. in Toranomon, Minato-ku, Tokyo, 500 million yen in capital. The business purpose was to conduct drilling operations related to exploration and development of oil and gas overseas and domestically and related engineering work.

1980s

Expansion

Constructed multiple rigs.

Established PT. Japan Drilling Indonesia in the Republic of Indonesia.

Major operations: Japan, South Korea, Qatar, Philippines and Vietnam.

2000~2009

Growth with Partners

Established local subsidiaries with joint venture partners in Qatar and Malaysia.

Moved the head office to Horidome-cho, Nihonbashi, Chuo-ku, Tokyo.

In 2008, delivered a jack-up type drillin rig "HAKURYU-10".

Major operations: South Africa, Congo, Nigeria, Brunei, Mexico

Chikyu Operations

Mantle Quest Japan Company Ltd. starts operations and management of the Deep-Sea Drilling Vessel "Chikyu" owned by Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science (JAMSTEC).

2020~

Restart

Moved the head office to Yanagibashi, Taito-ku, Tokyo.

In 2021, the Tokyo District Court issued an order confirming the reorganization plans.

In 2022, a capital contribution as made to JDC by the Aspirant Group, Inc., and the same year the court issued decisions to complete the corporate reorganization proceedings.

Major operations: Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia and Qatar.

1970s

Company Growth

Constructed multiple rigs and started operations in Japanese waters and overseas.

Established a Singapore office.

Established JDC Oilfield Service Co., Ltd.

Major ​operations: Japan, Indonesia, Egypt, Thailand, Russia and UAE.

1990s

Continuous development

Establish the HSE (Health, Safety, Environment) Management Plan.

Relocated the head office to Nishi-Azabu, Minato-ku, Tokyo.

Major operations: Japan, Angola, India, Australia and Namibia.

2010~2019

Glory and Tough Period

Established Japan Drilling (Netherlands) BV in the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

In 2013, "HAKURYU-11" jack-up MODU delivered.

​In 2018,  filed a petition with the Tokyo District Court for the commencement of corporate reorganization proceedings. Petition accepted by same court.

Major Operations: Japan​, Indonesia, Myanmar, Tunisia and Spain.
